The SEND Academy

Who are we?

We are experienced educators with many years of practice across education and SEND. We have a strong track record of delivering award-winning teacher training to schools, achieving consistently outstanding outcomes.

Guided by a commitment to inclusion and a belief in passion-led learning, we aim to share our expertise and resources with SEND professionals. Our goal is to reduce planning workload while providing high-quality, accessible, and effective resources that have a meaningful impact on practice and outcomes.

‘Celebrating individuality, we aim to create an inclusive, creative, passion-led learning environment where everyone is valued’

Multi award winner, founder, and director of The SEND Academy, Katie Scott, has worked in education for over 30 years. Her first 12 years as a leader in Early Years, then, completing her Primary Teaching degree. She then created ‘Little Sunshine Mindfulness and Yoga’, developed and delivered self esteem programmes, and teacher training, in over 90 schools and organisations across the North West, and further afield.

Katie’s passion and aim is to create a learning environment that is inclusive, passion based, creative, and where emotional well-being is at the heart of education. She now shares her resources at The SEND Academy to enable more educators to access SEND activities.

Welcome to The SEND Academy

The SEND Academy provides high-quality, professional, and effective SEND resources designed to make a meaningful difference for future generations. Our resources support SEND teachers and educators by combining expert practice with evidence-informed approaches.

The SEND Academy Principles

  • To promote high-quality, professional, and expert resources for SEND teachers and educators

  • To provide up-to-date research and guidance across all curriculum areas

  • To equip SEND professionals with a comprehensive range of resources that have a measurable impact

Our Values

  • To support and empower SEND educators

  • To ensure all children and young people feel valued, regardless of their SEND

  • To create safe learning environments where children and young people feel confident to be themselves

  • To recognise, and celebrate, all children’s unique strengths and abilities

  • To promote empathetic, knowledgeable, and informed practice among SEND educators

  • To encourage passion-led learning, independence, creativity, and self-expression

All the activities have been successfully delivered in schools across the UK over many years. They have been evaluated and accredited with outstanding outcomes, contributing positively to children’s and young people’s emotional well-being.

Please note: Not all activities are suitable for every child. Educators are encouraged to use professional judgement when selecting activities for their setting.  All our resources are cross curricula, integrating emotional well-being and learning. Our resources are also suitable for mainstream students, for PSHE planning.
